(SEATTLE, WA – THURSDAY, JUNE 27) Earlier this season, Mist quarterback KK Matheny made her return to the ShoWare Center after leaving the franchise in 2018 to play for Nashville. Matheny was welcomed back with open arms, and all of Mist Nation was thankful the two-time Legends Cup Champion made a return to Seattle for another Championship run.

This weekend another Seattle Mist quarterback makes her return to a stadium full of cheering MistFits. Michelle Angel, known around the league as the Dark Angel, will not be welcomed with those same open arms Matheny was given earlier this season. The Seattle Fans hope to see their Mist defense smother the journeyman quarterback and finish out their 2019 regular season a perfect 4-0.

Michelle Angel has made the rounds in the LFL, having started at the quarterback position for the LA Temptation, Dallas Desire, Seattle Mist and currently the Austin Acoustic. This 2019 Acoustic team is certainly the most talented, complete, and well-coached team she has led. Angel wants nothing more than to prove she is among the top signal callers in the league and a win against the Mist will help her case.

For Seattle, a big loss this week will be the absence of one of their most valuable players this season- Alli Alberts. Sustaining a knee injury in the Week 8 game against Denver, Alberts is listed as doubtful in their final regular season game.

Having already clinched the postseason, it wouldn’t make sense for Alberts to rush back from an injury. Seattle will have nearly two full months to prepare for the August 24th Playoffs and they’ll want a healthy roster as they push for another Legends Cup Title.

With a win this week, the Seattle Mist (3-0) will lock in the #1 seed for the new playoff system in which the top four teams in the league go on, instead of conference championship play.

The Austin Acoustic (1-0) will have a heavy dose of football leading up to the postseason. They play in three of the final six regular season games.

With a win this week, Austin still won’t have clinched a playoff spot. The Acoustic will still host the LA Temptation and play on the road against Nashville in what could end up being an elimination game for either team in Week 16, depending on how the season plays out for Austin.

A win this week would be huge for Austin, as they are the only team that can bump Seattle from the first seed in the postseason. If Austin can finish out the season 4-0 they’ll face the #4 seed.

Will Michelle Angel, her Ferrari, and the Acoustic head into Seattle and upset the favored Mist? Or does KK Matheny and company finish 2019 a perfect 4-0?
