LEGENDS CUP REMATCH SET FOR SATURDAY, WITH ACOUSTIC HOSTING STRUGGLING BLISS

(AUSTIN. TEXAS – WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2019) The Chicago Bliss franchise has started a season with a loss just three out of their nine previous seasons. After starting this season with an ugly performance against the Atlanta Steam, they are now in the 0-1 territory and desperately need a win to keep their season alive. Their schedule doesn’t get easier for them as they play Atlanta and Nashville to finish out their season. The positive side for the Bliss, is the fact that out of those three seasons starting with a loss- the Bliss went on to hoist the Legends Cup trophy at the end of two of those seasons (2013 & 2016). The question is can Chicago get back on track and do the same in 2019?

In order to get that win, Chicago will have to stop the rushing attack led by one of their cities own and former Bliss super star- ChrisDell ‘Ferrari’ Harris. Harris was an integral part of the Bliss Dynasty during their first three championships, and is regarded as the single biggest threat offensively the game has ever seen. Coming off a season where she was inducted in the LFL Hall of Fame, and failing to help get the Atlanta Steam into the postseason a year ago, the league’s best running-back took her wheels to Austin, Texas.

Joining the Ferrari in Austin, is quarterback Michelle Angel who has bounced around the LFL in search of the right fit to prove she is among the elite signal callers in the game. Angel has started under center for the LA Temptation, Dallas Desire, Seattle Mist, and now the Austin Acoustic. Also joining her on the Acoustic this season is linebacker Megan Hanson, who also played for the LA Temptation, Seattle Mist, and now the Austin Acoustic.

Despite being a rematch of the 2018 Legends Cup Championship, this match-up looks completely different on paper. The Chicago Bliss defense suffered a bad loss against Atlanta, not only on the scoreboard, but also the injury to leader and standout linebacker Kristin Morrison. The Bliss defense will have their hands full with an Austin offense that features the talented quarterback Michelle Angel and alongside her- running-back ChrisDell Harris (a force on the ground and a receiving target), as well as additional receiving threats- Kassandra Bills, Teshay Winfrey and Chasity Morales.

Chicago will need to play solid in the trenches in order to give themselves a chance to win this week. They simply do not have enough experienced talent at the skilled positions to move the chains consistently without help up front. The ‘big uglies’ will need to manufacture running lanes for Javell Thompson and also provide time for quarterback Chaz Duson, filling in for the injured Tamika Robinson, to execute, control the tempo, and eliminate turnovers.

Saturday night we’ll find out if Chicago can right the ship in their 2019 campaign or if they in fact fall to 0-2 for the first time since the 2011 season. Austin is looking to show the rest of the league they haven’t budged from being the Best in the West since last season, after bolstering their roster with improved talent at nearly each position.
