(CHICAGO, IL -THURSDAY, JULY 18) The Chicago Bliss are currently 0-3 for the first time in franchise history. The iconic Chicago Bliss have never finished with a winless season and this 2019 group is determined to make sure that isn’t the case this year either.

The Bliss are already eliminated from the postseason, but a win over Nashville would cap a season of rebuilding and set the tone for the offseason.

The Nashville Knights (1-1) still control their own destiny for a playoff spot. If the Knights win out the the last two regular season games against the Bliss and Acoustic they are automatically in. Suffering a loss Saturday night to the Bliss would take their playoff hopes out of their own control, but they’ll still have a chance to clinch relying on other games to go their way.

If Nashville were to fall to 1-2 they would need LA to defeat Austin Week-14, Atlanta to defeat Omaha Week-15, then go on to beat Austin Week-16. This scenario is very unlikely so Nashville’s best bet is to win Saturday night in Chicago.

The 2019 Bliss have been a disappointment for Chicago fans. An early-season injury to Kristin Morrison put the team in dire straits. Horrible quarterback play and no sign of development or solution at the position has caused the team to rely on the running game.

Despite having a Legends Cup MVP running back in Javell Thompson, this ground game hasn’t impressed anyone in 2019. Through three games, not one player on this team has rushed for 100 yards on the season. That’s correct, not one running back has averaged 33 yards per game this season. Thompson has lost a step from her 2017 and 2018 form, evidently lacked preparation during the offseason potentially due to an injury sustained in 2018. Despite a 2.8 yard-per-carry average, look for Thompson to be a key role in their offensive plan against the Nashville defense.

Nashville quarterback Molly Richardson is starting her third game at the position and her season has been productive. Richardson has over a 50% completion rate on her passes and has totaled 223 yards through two games. Most expect Nashville to attack through the air often against the Bliss, which features an inexperienced secondary.

Saturday night will determine which direction the Bliss intend to go this offseason and whether or no Nashville is a real playoff contender in 2019. Saturday night’s game will air on YouTube Saturday, July 27th at 7pmCT.
