DREAMING FOR A VICTORY, DENVER HOSTS LA

Rounding out April’s LFL Football is a match-up seen previously- LA Temptation at Denver Dream. In fact, LA vs Denver was the third ever showdown in LFL regular season history, when the Temptation visited the Dream on September 18th, 2009 – resulting in a close contest decided by a possession: 26-19 in LA’s favor. After being shelved for six seasons and returning in 2017, Denver is still on their quest for the team’s first franchise win.

Last season, Denver struggled in their second season back since 2009, but showed signs of improvement and promise. Two close games against the Omaha Heart gave hope to the Denver franchise that they can compete in the LFL. With a coaching change- releasing Adam Johnson and promoting Marcus Juniel – Denver went into the off-season with structure and the leadership of the LFL’s ‘2018 Assistant Coach of the Year’.

The Dream were outscored heavily last season due to ugly performances against Nashville and LA losing 94-6 and 44-7 respectively. The Dream have better expectations this season, but will be put to the test with one of the league’s tougher schedules having to play- LA, Seattle, Nashville, and finishing the season on the road in Omaha.

The Los Angeles Temptation are coming off a promising performance that showcased their talent and potential for this season, playing a competitive game against the Seattle Mist. Offensively, a better plan of attack with help utilize veteran talent at nearly each offensive position with wide receiver Anne Erler, tight-ends Hallie Jiskra & Sheri Awagah, and running back Nas Johnson. Quarterback Ashley Salerno looks to refine her passing game, specifically improving accuracy after missing multiple open receivers in their Week 1 game.

With LA needing the win to keep their postseason hopes alive, Denver looks to bring a mighty punch to start 2019 on a high note. Returning from an injury stricken season in 2018, running-back and linebacker Breaya Quintana is a highlight on the Dream’s roster. Keep an eye on quarterback Britney Perea with her expected improvement this year, and defensively safety Nicole Curry is noted to be a spotlight for the Denver defense in 2019.
