CHICAGO’S ONLY CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL TEAM, CHICAGO BLISS HEADED SOUTH TO TOYOTA PARK
(CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Tuesday, January 20, 2015)
Chicago Bliss Football Club and Toyota Park officials are excited to announce a partnership that will bring one of the world’s fastest growing sports and the back-to-back Legends Cup champion, Chicago Bliss to Toyota Park.
The Chicago Bliss are one of Legends Football League’s (or ‘LFL’ formerly Lingerie Football League) most storied franchises having drawn near capacity crowds in Hoffman Estates Sears Centre during snowstorms and appearing in conference playoffs as well as being two-time LFL champions. Plainfield, Illinois’ Heather ‘Rockstar’ Furr, a veteran on the roster and perhaps the most high profile commented about the move to Bridgeview, “We as players could not be more excited to play the game we love in such a beautiful stadium on an amazing surface around some of the most passionate fans in sports’. Furr, the three-time All-Star player made national headlines during the 2014 season when she grabbed and chugged a fan’s beer after scoring a game-winning touchdown, thus the name ‘Rockstar’.
Toyota Park will host the home opener vs. Omaha Heart on ‘Championship Night’, Saturday, April 25, unveiling both Chicago Bliss championship banners as part of pre-game festivities, scheduled to include several Chicago Bears in attendance.
Chicago will be back home for a ‘Sunday Funday w/Mom’ game on Mother’s Day, May 10 with a historic, first-ever daytime game in LFL history, a 1pm kickoff vs championship game rival Atlanta Steam. The home finale will feature the Atlanta Steam once again on Saturday, August 15 in a game that will surely have serious playoff implications in the Eastern Conference.
“LFL Football and specifically the Chicago Bliss bring an incredible environment to the stadium. It’s truly one of those sports you have to witness LIVE to appreciate. We welcome the World Champion Bliss to Toyota Park as they present us with three destination type events that the stadium and Village of Bridgeview can be proud to host”, said Debra Augle, Toyota Park, General Manager.
The LFL has become a global sports franchise, with league play in the US, Canada, Australia and in 2016, Europe. The sport has also become the most widely-distributed women’s sport on television now in over 190+ territories around the world, having been broadcast on major platforms such as Sky Sport, ESPN International, Ten Sports, Seven Network, Setanta Sports, Premiere Sports amongst others.
