The Queensland Brigade have continued to bring in the big guns in their quest for LFL Australia supremacy with a guest visit from fitness expert and motivational speaker Kortney ‘KO’ Olson this week. With winter just around the corner and training ramping up in intensity, Olson of “Konfidence by Kortney” fame was invited to Brigade headquarters by QLD assistant coach Tracy Day (TD) in an effort to rally the troops for the long campaign ahead.

Speaking on a range of issues, the energetic Olson, whose own resume boasts awards in everything from fitness modeling to crossfit training to arm wrestling, spoke on a number of key issues that are pivotal to succeeding both as an athlete and an individual.

Brigade assistant coach Day was thrilled with the response from the Brigade players. “Having someone like Kortney, who has really got a sense of contagious energy about her, come and speak to the team is a real score for us,” said Day after the visit.

“The players all can see how dedicated she is to her training. To hear someone from a different walk of life talk about how it’s ok for female athletes to be strong, powerful and athletic is really in line with what we’re trying to achieve with the Legends Football League.”

As for any chance of the Brigade getting Olson to line up for them on the LFL gridiron?

“She’d be amazing…trust me, we’re trying!” Laughs coach Day.

Whilst getting Olson in Brigade colours is a work in progress, the QLD side has made a number of new additions to its roster as the inaugural LFL Australia season draws nearer. “We’ve had an influx of about fifteen new players from our try outs last month, the result of which has been a perceivable rise in the intensity of our training,” said Day.

“The next couple of months building up to our 3-day camp on the Gold Coast is going to be vital for us as a team, as we try and see which players are going to be able to cut it in a game environment. It will be a hard road to see who has the skills to cut it at LFL level.”

With friends like Olson in their corner, it’s unlikely the Brigade are going to be lacking any “Konfidence.”
