2013 Scouting Report: Baltimore Charm, LFL360.com

LFL360.com

The Baltimore Charm will have a different look in 2013. Not only will the Charm feature new uniforms, they will also have a new quarterback in Angela Rypien and a new coaching staff led by legendary Washington Redskins wide receiver, Gary Clark. This team now has the leadership required to win games consistently. Now they just have to implement more talent across the field in order to keep up with the rest of the Eastern Conference.

Offense:
The Baltimore Charm have brought in the most anticipated player in the league along with the most anticipated coaching staff. Angela Rypien, the daughter of Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien, will take the reigns under center. Coming over from the Seattle Mist, Rypien brings strong leadership to what was previously a poorly coached team. Washington Redskins great, Gary Clark has arrived as the new head coach this year and plans to have his team become more disciplined in their preparations. The loss of one of the LFL’s marquee receivers Kyle DeHaven will hurt Baltimore as she was spectacular in stretching the field and managing tough yards after catch. Rypien has the qualities to become a great pocket passer, but she needs to maintain her mobility when her front line is unable to suppress the pass rush, which opposing coaches are sure to focus on against this young quarterback.

Defense:
The most intense player on this team last year was playmaker Kyle DeHaven. Unfortunately for Baltimore she’s gone for 2013. Even more unfortunate, Baltimore has never been able to find that same intensity on defense that DeHaven was able to bring offensively. Assistant coaches and former NFL stars Ravin Caldwell and John Booty must create a more aggressive Baltimore defense. This doesn’t mean just blitzing more. This means the women themselves have to become ferocious tacklers. Too many times last season there were missed tackles at crucial times, which led to games getting out of hand.
