CHARM, DEHAVEN OUTLAST CRUSH 20-19 IN HISTORIC THRILLER

CLEVELAND (LFL360.com) — After her spectacular performance resulted in a setback against Orlando last week,  Kyle DeHaven made sure that her team would emerge victorious tonight against a gutsy Cleveland team, as she led the Baltimore Charm to a clutch 20-19 inter-conference win in front of a spirited crowd on the historic opening night of Crush football.

DeHaven (4 carries/38 yards, 4 receptions/38 yards, 2 TD) scored what ultimately proved to be the most lethal blow, as she sprinted in the end zone for a two point conversion, following a Stacy Moon (10 of 19, 90 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT), 17- yard strike to Morgan Spencer with two-minutes remaining in the game to put Baltimore ahead by one, representing their first lead in the contest. The score capped off a two-touchdown effort by the star, as she reeled in two touchdown passes from Moon, one for 9 yards and the other for 29 yards to turn a 13-0 second-half deficit into an extremely close affair.

Throughout most of the first half, the two teams and their respective defenses dealt punishing blows to any of the opposing offenses’ opportunities, as promising drives were extinguished mere yards from the goal line time and time again.

Cleveland was led by running back Marija “The Enforcer” Condric (13 carries/96 yards) as well as quarterback Abbie Sullivan (5 for 13, 33 yards, 2 INT) and the theatrics of Sullivan, who electrified the crowd with a first-half ending 53-yard interception return for the touchdown to place the home team at a 13-0 halftime advantage.

“We came out ready to play football with intensity and we just didn’t have enough coming into the second half. Baltimore did and that’s the difference in the game. Not who starts strong, but who finishes stronger,” said Crush Head Coach Dontez Howard.

For the Baltimore Charm, the win vaults the team into the heart of the playoff race, now tied with Tampa for second place in the Eastern Conference at 1-1.

“Many of our players were playing hurt tonight, but I am proud of the way they fought all the way until the end of the game. It feels good to win,” said Charm Head Coach Rick Reeder.
